They can provide flip keys, remotes, and even Fobs. They can also help you program new keys.

Remotes

Most seat car key replacement drivers keep a seat leon spare key remote in the house or garage, but when they lose it getting replacement keys from a dealer is expensive and time consuming. This is because most dealers will programme the key using the car's computer which will need to be reset. However, many people buy second-hand keys off the internet that are not programmed to their car. This can be a much cheaper alternative to going to the dealer. But, these key will not start the car because they will not have a transponder chip inside them. You can see the chip (yellow) in this picture below, it is a Dual Inline Package or DIP 18 pin chip. There are also a diode, transistor and resonator, all these parts make up the key's circuit.

Immobilisers

As car immobilisers became popular in the latter part of the nineties, the number of car thefts began fall, but thieves are savvy and always searching for ways to bypass security systems. They were able to get into early immobiliser systems employing a scanner to locate the transponder's chip, and then copying it onto the blank key, however since then technology has advanced and they've had to develop new tricks.

Fortunately the majority of the immobilisers we supply and fit are Thatcham Cat 2 approved. This means they've been tested and approved by the Thatcham Research organisation. This non-profit organisation is the grading system and approval system for automotive aftermarket alarm and security devices, such as car immobilisers.

When the Thatcham approved system is activated, it will transmit a coded signal to the Engine Management System (EMS) of the vehicle that prevents the motor from running without the proper key. This means that if a car has been "hot wired" after entry and the engine is stop working within 30 seconds, rendering it impossible to start.

Like a computer the immobiliser can be affected and the battery inside or the key fob could require replacement. The best option is always to hire an expert to complete the task, since it will ensure that everything is fitted correctly and that it functions.

Transponders

Transponders transmit an identifying signal when it is questioned. It is used to identify the aircraft to air traffic control if it is on an active radar system and helps maintain the distance between aircrafts. The information that is transmitted by the transponder differs based on the kind of system used.

Transponders are also present on spacecrafts and satellites, allowing them to communicate with Earth systems such as cell phone networks or other networks for communication. They receive signals in a variety frequencies, and then transmit signals on an additional frequency, similar to how repeaters function in terrestrial cell phone networks.

Often sophisticated passive transponders can be found on aircraft. They are used to monitor the status of flight and provide information on navigation including the aircraft's location and speed, altitude, and route. Air traffic controllers rely on the information from these transponders to manage routes and ensure safety.

In addition to transponders for aircraft some personal keys contain a small transponder chip. These chips are non-active and do not require batteries. This lets the ECU to read the signal from the transponder when it's placed in the ignition lock.

Most aircrafts have a switch on the flight deck that enables pilots to turn on and off their transponders. They can also select an "ident" mode, which enables the transponder's unique squawk number and help it stand out on a busy air traffic control screens.
