Whether you're looking for a buggy to run with or just a nifty stroller to tackle neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.

For a smooth ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are prone to punctures so be prepared with an repair kit.

Sturdy frame

The latest figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled vehicle - a symbol of the noughties of more money than wisdom - is in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look stylish and easy to push.

The basic idea is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with rough ground and bumpy pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn as well as a 3 wheel double stroller year old and found that it coped well with grass, cobbles, rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was solid to push and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.

Another thing to consider is the size of the seat and shape. It should be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort. You will also need it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have an option to lie flat completely while others allow an adult facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and walking in muddy areas. It can be used as a single from the beginning and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4, and includes a bumper and raincover, a new 5-point harness, and a huge padded seat. Storage options are also good, with a large basket and zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on uneven terrain, which is ideal for buggies that are off-road. In addition, they make it easier to manoeuvre the buggy through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies feature rotating front wheels that help you navigate around tight corners, while others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This also helps if you bump into an unintentional tree root or road, as the front wheel will rise up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres that allow them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll require repair kits and an spare inner tubes on hand.

Some of our favourite 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies have larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and can easily move up and down kerbs. They also have suspensions that Kath says "smooths out bumps extremely effectively".

The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite wide and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This is problematic if you intend to use it as a jogger, or need to fit through doorways that are narrow when traveling. Fortunately, many models come with small folding options that let you take off the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

A three-wheel buggy can be more comfortable to drive with a child. The way they are constructed means that the front wheels spin on a dime and are incredibly easy to maneuver which makes them perfect for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3 wheel stroller for newborn-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough ground and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by the way it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. It was very stable in the downhills or on a rough terrain."

The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel pushchair wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of when your home is one of the cities. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeler might be better for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars protect your child from scrapes and bumps when out and about. They are quick and easy to put up and help your child feel safe and secure while out on the town or on the trail.

This bumper bar was designed to match the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface that provides an ideal place for your child to grab onto while walking. The durable construction and sturdy design ensures that your child will enjoy strolling around town without having to worry about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.

The sling seat is comfortably inside the frame instead of sitting on top like modular seats. It provides the lowest center of gravity at the appropriate height for your baby and also providing an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it was great on grass and cobbles. It's also a great option for running with its tyres that are filled with air and a lockable swivel wheel.

With a sophisticated and stylish look this bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. Available in a variety of finishes and colors and designs, it can be tailored to suit your personal style. The bumper bar is easily installed and removed with the quick-release mechanism. Moreover the bumper bar is easy to clean and is made from durable materials that are easy to wipe down. This makes it an excellent choice for families who want an elegant and safe accessory for their stroller.

Comfort

A 3 wheel double buggy-wheel buggy provides the most maneuverability and performance when going off road. With the perfect geometry, engineering and weight distribution this type of buggy can turn on a dime and be a breeze to steer using just one hand. All Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.

Designed with fabric sling seat placed snugly within the frame instead of on top of it like modular seats, the Sport's clever design permits it to have a lower center of gravity at the right height for your child - delivering you an easier push, a less hefty curb pop (you don't need the same amount of weight or effort to lift the buggy's nose up and over the curb) and a better balance and stability. And with the huge rear wheels that measure 16 inches, lockable swivel front wheel and tyres filled with air that require only occasional pumping to give you an unhurried ride on rough terrain and a smoother and more comfortable jog too.

The only stroller that is all terrain 3 wheel stroller-terrain in our range that comes with an adult-facing seat that can also accept a car seat or carrycot, you are able to make sure your family is prepared for every adventure - beginning from the first day, and for years to be!

But that's not the only reason to love this buggy - our MFM reviewer Kath was impressed by how spacious it is as well. There's a huge, easily accessible basket that's surprisingly roomy for such a small buggy as well as an easy-to-use pouch that zips up at the rear of the seat and even two smaller mesh pockets under the hood to keep your keys and phone.ickle-bubba-venus-max-jogger-stroller-black-black-black-2394.jpg
