How to Replace an audi key replacement cost uk a5 key fob (click over here now) G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU through the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can start spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit tricky since there are two connector pins, and they have different functions but the most effective method of testing it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. If you're having issues with this component, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, i experienced a big cut in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors are not firing at all. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine without sparks, the three with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one remains shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is zero.

happy-african-american-businessman-holding-car-key-2022-12-16-16-36-17-utc-min-scaled.jpgI don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much all other possibilities out. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and both function in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a junkyard or in a local parts store. Testing them is easy - put your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's side). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know both the position and speed of the crankshaft to determine fuel injector timing, etc. To accomplish this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these sensors go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner which can lead to engine shutdown.

Mitsubishi-Motors-New.pngSome of the symptoms of a malfunctioning G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox and gears that shift faster than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. It is possible that the sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you encounter any of these signs. The good thing is that they are very cheap and readily available, especially if you're looking at a Bosch model, like ours. Alternatively, the GM version of this unit is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be the reason behind a slew of issues in your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission in your audi replacement key cost, as it transmits information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's engine is spinning. This sensor can cause the transmission to malfunction and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It transmits a signal via an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to control fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. There should be a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms between these points. This is a common feature across the audi car key cover 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU, so you might find some good ones in wrecking yards.
