Path of Exile Item Upgrade Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage, more AD or even more attaches.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item upgrade they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than before.

There are a variety of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. Certain upgrades grant armor an extra number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade the item can be given, as illustrated below.

A few of the upgrades are also magical or a combination of technology and magic which is shown by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees in order to be used. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades refresh daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces beyond +9, because the increase in defense is typically not worth the additional weight and power costs of the upgrades required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Some weapons also have special enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.

To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. In the past, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased quality. You could continue to do this until you reached a maximum upgrade level for the weapon or equipment, after which the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the Best item upgrade tier of benefits and blessings.

The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates utilize to increase their power. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will enhance its effectiveness when paired with experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the armor's sockets and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. They can be made through a process called jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem with several reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can boost the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

The Jeweler can create all tiers of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones that require an appropriate level to obtain. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped by a different jewel of the same kind without destroying it. You can only replace the gem once within an item of equipment.

It is normal to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also obtain glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These provide a small bonus and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also Scattered Crystal. The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings, in a similar way to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It also helps compensate for the lack of a good slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's optimal stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item upgrade to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item upgrader mod has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade since it's generally better to upgrade just one important stat than two sub-optimal ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets that form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance completing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss.
