World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all its leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the level of an item. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item level.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is determined. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by an equation that determines how valuable an item's stats really are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets increase the item upgrader mod's overall value. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, as the size of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item upgrader kit. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade items gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Like base equipment, it would have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

item level upgrade Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of the properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game and is thus more beneficial in the early game as opposed to later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each item level. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item may influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have a success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects can be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
